Listening to the discussion re literary qualities of the Bible and the Koran I thought, as an atheist by the way, is not the argument for the literary merit of the King James version of the bible somewhat circular? For over 300 years the entire nation of Great Britain has been taught that the King James Bible is of high literary merit. So just about every literary effort since has the influence of this bible infused throughout its words, sentences and paragraphs, not to mention moral direction in most cases. I mean does a German view the King James Bible as high literature or does she/he have their own high literature, most likely the bible itself, seeing as the bible is not only the most published book in history but was also pretty much the earliest published book in history. So your belief system is carried aloft on the wings of the best published literature since, well, itself.
